Los Padres National Forest opens applications for annual wildfire training camp for women

Are you interested in a career in fire fighting? The Los Padres National Forest opened applications for the fifth annual Women in Wildfire Basic Training Camp, which will take place starting March 24, 2019 in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The 6-day training camp is intended for women and other underrepresented groups interested in a career in wildfire fire fighting. Participants will undergo basic fire fighting training and leadership development. Training includes learning about fire behavior, transportation safety and the basic concepts of wild land.

The last day to submit an application is Dec. 9. For more information, see their outreach sheet posted online or visit the U.S. Forest Service website at http://www.fs.usda.gov/.
